Date balls: Level up with these sweet treats!

These are a favorite Iranian treat of mine. They are naturally sweetened with honey and dates. I love snacking on them with a cup of coffee in the am. They can be hard to find in the village, however, so I had to improvise and make my own. They are probably a healthier variety too. These date balls are said to be loaded with energy and good for a natural boost in sugar. I know they give me a nice burst of energy, or could that be the coffee? Who knows? Try them out for yourself!

Ingredients

10 dates seeds removed and peeled (peeling optional)
1-2 tablespoons of all natural organic honey
1/4 cup of sesame seeds
15-20 walnut halves

This can get sticky! I just had to warn you. Mix the fruit with honey and stir until somewhat smooth, you can form about 15 balls maybe more. They should be about an inch in diameter or less. Then roll your sticky balls in the seeds, after they are covered in seeds they are not so sticky. But you’ll have fun scraping your fingers with your teeth (after the entire job is done). Press a walnut halve into the ball and set aside on a dish. Repeat these steps for each ball and you will be pro before you know it!

Tip: please do not lick fingers while making these; that is worse than double dipping, just sayin’.
