I am sure I’m not the first to say that the Caspian Sea with its artsy, spiritual and family friendly scene does something spectacular for every soul.

The sea shore environment in Iran invites everyone in. It makes us feel warm and at home with our families and friends. It is a special feeling that brings everyone to life and makes them feel connected to one another and at peace. There is a special comfort that is unique with humble characteristics in the Islamic Republic of Iran when visiting the Caspian. This special quality is seen on the faces of almost every person you meet and greet on the shores of the Caspian.

A woman and her violin. Beautiful sounds against a soft breeze can resonate from a violin as this woman proved to so many onlookers today. At one point the entire population of beach goers were clapping and singing as she ran her bow gracefully against the strings of her violin.

Today I am posting a short entry with captioned photos, since these photos of pleasant faces express much of what I thought to write… I hope I have captured expressions of comfort and happiness on the faces of those I am posting today. Do you get a feel of what I am talking about?

BFF’s! The absolute best travel companions you could meet. Those eyes! Love these Persian Beauties.

*Tips: Even at the sea we must cover our heads so do not assume you do not have to wear a veil at a beach in the IRI (My photo below gives you and idea of what I typically wear in some natural environments in IRI, where changing like superwoman is inevitable.) The good news is there are places like this sea side I visited with a private beach for men and women. I would recommend bringing a beach tent and plenty of water and toiletries (like baby wipes and other sanitation products ). The facilities are not very good for men or women, this area of Mazandaran does have a lot of potential, but it could be better.

Yes, that is me. I am pictured here after a fun dip in the women’s private section of the sea. Word of advice, when coming here – as a lady – it is wise to wear a few layers of clothing over a swim suit for quick and easy changing between private and public places. You could just drape a chador over it all to get it over with 🙂 I have my scarf of course, with a swim suit then a body suit with pants and a dress finally topped with my cardigan. You get used to layers after living in Iran for a while. It makes the adjustments easier between private and public places.

Now for a fun fact!

Did you know the Caspian Sea is recognized as the worlds largest lake?

The Caspian Sea is the largest inland body of water on Earth by area. It is often classed as the world’s largest lake. “The Caspian has characteristics common to both seas and lakes. It is often listed as the world’s largest lake, though it is not a freshwater lake.”
